The Tecklenburger Land was one of Germany's first certified premium hiking regions. At its heart are the Teutoschleifen – scenic circular trails awarded premium status by the German Hiking Institute (Deutsches Wanderinstitut).
What makes the Teutoschleifen special
The Teutoschleifen lead as varied loop tours through the Teutoburg Forest. Clear waymarking, natural paths and a constant change between woodland, ridges and wide views characterise the certified routes. For shorter outings there are the Teutoschleifchen, which are well suited to half a day.
Rock, forest and views
A scenic highlight is the Dörenther Klippen, an impressive sandstone formation along the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest. Its best-known rock is the legendary Hockendes Weib. Many loops connect such natural landmarks with quiet forest paths and panoramic views over the Münsterland.
